ASSE
ASSE: American Scandinavian Student Exchange
I'll explain the name. Students from all over the world are participating!
Hi! We are Ben and Molly Nickles. We've been married 19 years and live in a suburb of Little Rock, Arkansas. Ben is an Architect Network Engineer for a managed service provider, and I'm a Marketing and Sales Operations Director for a homeschool curriculum.
Our son Harrison is a senior and will be heading to college in Virginia next year. Our daughter Adelaide is 16 and will be a Junior in the '25-'26 school year. We're passionate about traveling, playing board games, and being involved in our community.
I lived in Switzerland between college and marriage, and those years shaped me. I'm so excited that our family gets to be the reason a student gets to live in another country for a year. I hope our children choose to live abroad for a year at some point. It opens your heart and eyes.
Being an Area Rep for ASSE is one way we're connecting with those we might not have connected with otherwise!
The history of ASSE goes back to 1938, when the Swedish Ministry of Education instituted an exchange program for Swedish and German students. In the post-World War II era, this was expanded to include Great Britain, France, Spain, Switzerland, and later the United States, where ASSE was established in 1976 by the Swedish Government as the American Scandinavian Student Exchange. Soon, Denmark, Norway, and Finland elected to participate. The program is now worldwide both for students to come from and go to America. To honor the company's history, they've kept the name.
ASSE is dedicated to connecting host families with students from Europe, Africa, South America, and Asia. Our carefully curated process ensures the students and host families have a rewarding experience.
